The Lady Dinos were back on the field on Monday welcoming in North Sanpete. A big first inning and a big fifth inning, put Carbon out in front and they never looked back taking a 9-4 win.

This was the seventh win in a row for the Dinos, they haven’t lost since March 17th. The Lady Dinos sit at 8-4 overall including a 3-0 Region 12 mark. They are also sitting in the No. 4 spot in the RPI.

Carbon jumped out in the bottom of the first as Jenna Richards came up to the plate with Makayla Scovill on first and sent a blast over the center field wall to take a 2-0 lead, and they weren’t done. Brielle Sandoval sent a line drive to center scoring Kylan Sorenson and Adri Abeyta collected a single bringing in Haven Byerly putting the score at 4-0 for the Lady Dinos.

The Dinos would go quiet offensively for the next three innings and then got back to work in the bottom of the fifth.

North Sanpete would add three runs putting the score at 4-3, when Scovill came to the plate with two outs and sent a fly ball to left field for a double, driving in Sandoval and Abeyta. Two batters later Gabby Vasquez doubled to right bringing in Scovill and Richards putting the score at 8-3. Carbon added one more run in the bottom of the sixth, and held North Sanpete to just one run the rest of the way taking the 9-4 win.

Abeyta went 3-4 gathering a pair of RBI’s and added a run. Scovill was 3-5 with two RBI’s and two runs scored. Vasquez went 2-3 with a pair of RBI’s and
Richards had a home run in the win.

Byerly got the complete game win giving up six hits with three earned and struck out 13.

The Dinos are back on the field Tuesday to face Lehi in a non-region tilt. Then they will get back to business in Region 12 in the final meeting of the regular season with the Emery Spartans on Wednesday . Both games are set for a 3:30 start at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.
