It’s time for another Price City update and Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with City Council Member Joe Christman who spoke about potholes, pedestrian bridge, and spring cleanup.
With the weather warming up the city has begun to start filling potholes around town. “Recently, our city crews have been out filling some potholes which there is probably an increasing number because of the severe winter we’ve had, and the different temperatures changes, the potholes seem to be growing. That’s seems to be a statewide problem, I heard on the news the other night, they’re out filling potholes all over the place. So it’s just increasing the workload and the number of potholes. But the crews are out there when the weather is good and it seems like they’re always finding a pothole to fill,” said Christman. If you see a pothole in and around your neighborhood, please notify Public Works so they can add it to their list. Officials would like to remind residents to travel cautiously through the road work areas
There is a bridge near 400 North that goes across the canal that needs some improvements. “That bridge if you haven’t had the opportunity to walk on it, it’s just been there since for a number of years. As part of the upgrade to the canal system, there was some funding available to replace this bridge that’s just wore out. I drove by the other day and the crews were out working on that area. It definitely would look better than this old rusty bridge,” explained Christman. This upgrade will better accommodate the pedestrians and students that travel along that walk-way to and from school.
Now that we are seeing warmer temperatures in the Castle Country area its time to start springtime clean up. “For a lot of year Price City use to, you could take your debris out to the street and the city could collect it. But just over the years it just became to cumbersome, a lot of work hours basically becoming too expensive for the city to provide that service and so we stopped doing it. But the county has waived the landfill fee for individuals, that starts April 22 to May 6 and the city will focus on cleaning up city property during this time period,” said Christman. The Carbon County Landfill is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
