It’s time for another Huntington City update with Mayor Leonard Norton who took time to speak over the telephone with Castle Country Radio to discuss secondary water, city wide clean-up, road/sidewalk projects and Heritage Days

“Things are going pretty good, you know. Got through winter, it wasn’t too bad, not too many problems and now we’re getting ready for Spring and getting everybody’s yards ready to go, picking up branches to put on the street and that. Secondary water will be getting turned on here the next day or so, people should start having that come to their houses by the time we get all the lines filled and all the brakes fixed and stuff,” said Mayor Norton. It looks as though the citizens will have a good water year as the winter storms produced lots of snow this Winter.

Currently the city is hosting their annual City Wide Clean-up and they are planning on assisting residents with debris. “We have clean-up going on right now so if you do any trimming of your trees, you can put the branches on the road, we’ll go out once a week, go through the city and try to get them all picked up. So those that don’t have a way to get them up there we can get them picked up for them,” said Mayor Norton. If any residents have questions about the City Wide Clean-up, please contact City Hall.

Its not known at this time where there will be road/sidewalk maintenance projects being done this Spring/Summer but the city does have some work planned. “We got a couple little areas we’re going to put more sidewalk in this Spring. The Special Service District has a few projects that they’re going to do. They’ll be starting up here in a month or so, keep your eyes out for construction going around through the city to make sure everybody is safe and that,” said Mayor Norton. Information about this year’s road/sidewalk maintenance projects can be found by calling City Hall at (435) 687-9112.

Be sure to mark your calendars for this year’s Heritage Days Celebration. “We have our dates, it’s the July 3rd and 4th this year, Monday, Tuesday. Our rodeo will be that weekend before think it’s the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of June we’ll have our rodeo. Then the 3rd and 4th we’ll have our Heritage Days Celebration. We’ll have our parade on the 4th, we’ll have entertainment both days and all good food and everything,” said Mayor Norton. This year festivities will take place again at Canyon View Middle School football field area. Further details of the celebration will be shared with residents as it approaches.
