
The Emery Lady Spartans took advantage of playing on their home course as they wrapped up second place for the first time in a region meet this season Tuesday afternoon at Millsite in Ferron.
Cheyenne Bingham fired a team-low 95 to help the Lady Spartans finish in second place with a team score of 409. The Richfield Wildcats continued to dominate the region with a 346, keeping their unbeaten streak alive. Carbon and Canyon View rounded out the field in third and fourth place respectively.
Bingham’s 95 marked a season-low score for her in Region 12 play. Kimber Gilbert complimented Bingham with a final score of 96. Aspen Jensen and Payton Wakefield both shot a 109 to give Emery its third and fourth scores.
The Carbon Lady Dinos dropped to third for this first time this season as they missed Emery by just five strokes with a 414.
Carley West was the low Carbon golfer as she posted a 95. Savanna Rasmussen ended with a 104, two strokes better than teammate Grace Simms. Paige Scovill was fourth on the team as she finished with a 109.
Despite the third-place finish on Tuesday, the Lady Dinos have second place overall in the standings on lockdown.
The four teams will take the rest of the week off before returning to competition next week at the Carbon Country Club golf course. The following week the teams will travel to Palisades to complete the regular season, ahead of the state championship on May 10 and 11.
