
The Dinos track and field teams welcomed schools from around the region for the Eastern Utah Invitational. After the one-day competition, the Lady Dinos finished in second place while the boys claimed third.
Union claimed the top spot on the boy’s side, and Uintah landed in second. Carbon, San Juan, and Emery made up the top five.
With a time of 10:20.84, Braxton Ware earned a first-place finish in the 3200, he would also go on to claim second place in the 1600, and Garrett Black earned eighth. Easton Humes, continued his great season with a first place in the 400, turning in a time of 52.14, he would also earn third in the 800 meters. Ethan Prettyman earned an eighth place in the 100, Mason Vasquez would finish the race in tenth. In two relays Carbon grabbed fifth-place finishes, in the sprint relay the team of Gavin Miller, Sean Stromness, Jaxson Jewkes and Prettyman came in fifth. Justus Clark, Eric Holt, Logan Palmer and Vasquez took fifth in the 4 x 100. The Carbon boy’s team also claimed a sixth-place finish in the 4 x 400.
In field events, Bradley Wood claimed a pair of top-three finishes with a second in the discus and a third in the shot put. Traxton Jewkes earned sixth place in the high jump and Breydan Jensen and Traxton Jewkes finished eighth and ninth place in the javelin.
For the girls, Uintah took the top spot with the Lady Dinos in second. Grand, Union, and Emery rounded out the top five.
Mia Crompton grabbed two top finishes for the Lady Dinos. Crompton finished the 200 in a time of 26.90, she also claimed first in the 400 in 1:04.32, Gianna White finished in third and Rebecca Swasey came in sixth. Rozlyn Stowe also had a top finish in the 800 with a time of 2:21.32, Sophia Taylor, finished in third, Ada Bradford sixth and Beverly Lancaster ninth. Stowe would also finish in second in the 1600, Taylor came in seventh and Ambree Jones finished eighth. Kinlee Lewis earned three top-five finishes with a second place in the 300 hurdles and a fourth in the 100 hurdles, she also claimed a third-place finish in the high jump. And in the longest distance race the 3200, the Lady Dinos went four, five, and six, with Jones, Lindsie Fausett, and Taylor.
Relays were once again good to the Lady Dinos with three top-three finishes. In the sprint relay, the Carbon team of Josie Jespersen, Bailey Johnson, Mclain Lowe, and Lancaster finished in third. The 4 x 1oo team of Crompton, Lewis, Johnson, and Jordan Shorts claimed another third-place finish, and then in the 4 x400, Crompton, White, Stowe, and Emma Bowman earned third as well.
Haley Garrish earned a pair of second-place finishes in the shot put and the discus and in the long jump Jordan Shorts earned second place as well.
