
Rozlyn Stowe continues to rack up the accolades in long distance running for the Carbon Dinos, Stowe, who is the reigning 3A Girl’s Cross Country Champion, has been finishing in the top spots in distances at the meets this track season, doing all this as a freshman. At the Delta Invitational she added one more title to her resume as a Carbon High School record holder, with a first place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:16.68. The Carbon girls would finish in second place and the boys landed in the third spot.
Stowe has helped her Carbon team mates earn some top finishes this season as they prepare to wrap up the track and field schedule for 2023. Stowe clocked her record breaking time in the 800, replacing a Regan Powell’s time of 2:19.52 that has stood since 2011.
North Summit earned the top spot for the girls, followed by Carbon. Host school Delta was in third while North Sevier and Manti made up the top five.
Stowe continued her winning ways earning a first place finish in the 1600, with a time of 5:08.30, she also joined her Carbon team mates Gianna White, Sophia Taylor and Mia Crompton to take third in the 4 x 400.
Crompton earned an individual finish taking third in the 100, she would also join Jordan Shorts, Kinlee Lewis, and Mclain Lowe for a first place finish in the 4 x 100 with a time of 51.44. In the 3200, Lindsie Fausett earned a second place finish and Ambree Jones ended in third, and the sprint relay team of Allie Smith, Kenedee Gunter, Emma Bowman and Beverly Lancaster claimed a third spot as well.
Haley Garrish continued to grab top finishes in field events with a first place in the discus.
For the boys, it was host team Delta earning the top spot, Manti came in second. Carbon, North Sevier, and Juan Diego rounded out the top five.
Braxton Ware and Easton Humes claimed top finishes in a pair of distance runs. Ware earned the top finish in the 3200 with the time of 10:22.73, Ware would also take third in the 1600. Humes turned in a time of 51.49 to take first in the 400. Humes and Ware would claim another first place finish in the sprint relay running with team mates Mason Vasquez and Eric Holt, and then in the 4 x 400 Garrett Black joined Humes, Ware and Vasquez in claiming a third place finish.
Traxton Jewkes took a third place finish in the high jump.
Carbon heads back on the track Friday and Saturday for the BYU Invitational.
