The temperatures are warming up around the Castle Country area which means it’s time to remove the bubble on the Desert Wave Pool and change to summer hours beginning May 25. Aquatic Coordinator, Tamara Gray stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details with listeners.

Residents should be made aware that the summer hours at the Desert Wave Pool will begin on May 25. “They’ll be Monday through Saturday from noon till 8:00 pm and then we will start opening on Sundays, that Sunday the 28th from noon till 6:00 pm,” said Gray. Regular admission rates apply. Adults $4.00, children 4 to 11 are $3.00, Seniors 62 and older are $2.75, and a family of five is $13.25.

Right now, the Desert Wave Pool is looking for lifeguards for the summer season. “We actually are hiring lifeguards. So if you are interested in being a lifeguard you have to be lifeguard certified and you can go ahead and bring in an application,” said Gray. Current lifeguard and first-aid/CPR certifications are required for the lifeguard position.

Parents looking for something productive for their young swimmers to do this summer can encourage them to join the Barracuda Swim Team. “She’s actually added and are competing with a new summer group. So they’ll compete against Springville, Lehi, Payson, Spanish Fork, Cedar City and Gunnison, that’s added, but right now, they still compete against Vernal, Roosevelt and Richfield. There’s going to be a lot of swim meets scheduled so if you have taken swim lessons, and you’ve passed that last level and you can swim across the pool, you can come try out for the swim team. We let you try it for a week for free, and if its something that you want to do, you can sign up,” explained Gray. Further information about the Barracuda Swim Team can be found by calling the Desert Wave Pool.

Summer swim lessons are set to begin on June 5. “So in the summer, yes, we’ll start our first summer session will begin on June 5 and they run every two weeks, so you get eight lessons, they’re Monday through Thursday in the morning. They run every half-hour starting at 8:30 am. You can give us a call and we’ll have each session scheduled a week before the session starts. We do that so we can accommodate people and the levels that are needed, the more requested levels we can make sure we have plenty of,” said Gray. The cost for swim lessons is $35.00 per session. There are several levels of swim lessons that are made available for children and adults.
