Twelve student-athletes from Carbon High School were recently awarded Academic All-State honors for the Spring sports season by the Utah High School Activities Association. This award celebrates those that have excelled in both the classroom and on the field of play. All student-athletes that maintain a 4.0 GPA qualify. The Academic All-State award is decided by either meeting an index score (view here) or having a 4.0 unweighted grade-point-average.

Carbon baseball landed three members of the 2023 team on the Academic All-State list with Daron Garner earning his second nod this school year, earlier he was awarded during the golf season. Wyatt Falk was honored with his work on and off the field this season as well, Falk turned in a 1.11 ERA on the mound this season with nine wins and 90 strike outs, and at the plate he batted .291 with 40 RBI’s, and five home runs. Quade Henrie finished the season with a .288 batting average, with 10 RBI’s and 11 runs.

The soccer team also added three players to the Academic All-State ranks, Boyd Bradford who collected a goal and an assist this season made the list, this was Bradford’s second nod after earning one for swimming. Dylan Curtis was between the pipes this season and logged five shutouts, Curtis also earned an honor for football last fall, And Parker Morgan got the nod for soccer as well after scoring one goal and collecting three assists.

Track and Field added three names as well to the list with Beverly Lancaster earning her fourth nod this school year, Lancaster also collected honors in cross-country, soccer and basketball. Ambree Jones also earned a mention for cross-country this season as did Braxton Ware.

Gabby Vasquez and Reese Ardohain were both named as recipients in softball. Vasquez was a big bat for the Lady Dinos with a .477 average, with 37 RBI’s on 42 hits and collected six home runs. Ardohain batted .294, with 22 RBI’s on 20 hits.

Savanna Rasmussen was the only member of the Lady Dinos golf squad to earn honors. Rasmussen ended the season at the 3A State Championships in 38th with a two-day total of 194.
