The Price Boys & Girls Club is winding down with its after-school program now that school is nearing the end of the academic year. They are looking forward to hosting their summer programs which are slated to begin June 12 running through till August 11. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Organization Representative, Jessica Haro to talk about the summer programs.

“As an afterschool program, yes, our focus is definitely making sure our kids are not falling behind academically, but most importantly, providing them with a safe place that they feel they can come to, have fun, and that they have adults in their life that are there to support them. Also expose them to perhaps experiences that they may have not have thought of before. So that is a big focus of our programming, to let them have an opportunity to try something that could potentially open up a new hobby or passion for them,” stated Haro.  The hours of operation for the summer program are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The extended hours will help parents with supervision during the summer months.

There are many fun, educational, activities that take place during the summer months. “So with our summer programming, I mean the kids just wrapped up months of school and we all want to have fun. So we want to get them out of the building, we want to get them outside, get some of that energy out, and make some fun, summer memories, you know classic childhood memories that we all have. So for the summer we have some exciting things coming up we have field trips and along with that as well, is still do the academic portion. We all know there’s that summer learning gap, and that summer learning loss, and also providing support in that,” said Haro. Field trips will include trips to the wave pool, museum and the Swell. The summer program is opened to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Summer program registration is currently taking place and costs only $20.00 per child for the entire summer. “We never want finances to be hurdle or a barrier for families and youth to receive the services and programs that we provide. So that $20.00 provides all of summer programming, and everything that we have to offer, and in addition, a perk to being a club member for those kids is we have licensed therapists, that also provide group and individual therapy, and that comes free to being a club member. So that $20.00 covers so much,” said Haro.
