The Carbon County Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center are eager to celebrate Utah Family Month with a Kite Day event on June 14 that will get local families outdoors to enjoy some time together. Director, Shelley Wright took time to come into the Castle Country Radio Station to share details about their upcoming event.

“We really, really, want to encourage families to get out with their kids and spend some good, quality, family time. The Kite Day was kind of developed or came out of the idea of Utah Family Month and that’s really what we’re celebrating is Utah Family Month,” said Wright. Other Justice Center’s in the state are hosting the same type of event too. Officials are excited to celebrate Utah Families and give them an opportunity to strengthen their relationship and build better bonding experiences through this event.

This family friendly event is free to the public and will take place at the Carbon County Fairgrounds at 450 South Fairgrounds Way. “The kites are free, we’re going to have 150 kites, so free while they last. We will have hotdogs and chips, we’ll have a snow cone machine, we will also have a cotton candy machine. Then of course we always hand out information about our center and our programs and how we strengthen the families in our community. This is just one way that we are trying to strengthen the relationships and quality time families can spend together,” said Wright. The event will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and families are urged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to watch all the kites fly.

If you have any questions about the Kite Day Event or would like to learn more about the Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center services, Wright says give them a call, “They can call us at (435) 636-3739, dial extension 1 or like us on Facebook and Instagram and if you like us on our social media sites then you will usually get all kinds of notices of the things that we have coming up in the year.”
