The Carbon County Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center are eager to celebrate Utah Family Month with an activity for the entire family. They originally scheduled a Kite Day activity for June 14 but because of inclement weather, they had to postpone it to Wednesday, June 21 at 5:00 pm at Carbon County Fairgrounds.

“We really, really, want to encourage families to get out with their kids and spend some good, quality, family time. The Kite Day was kind of developed or came out of the idea of Utah Family Month and that’s really what we’re celebrating is Utah Family Month,” said Director, Shelley Wright. Other Justice Centers in the state are also hosting the same type of activity. Event organizers are excited to celebrate Utah Families by giving them an opportunity to strengthen their relationships to build better bonding experiences.

“The kites are free, we’re going to have 150 kites, so free while they last. We will have hotdogs and chips, we’ll have a snow cone machine, we will also have a cotton candy machine. Then of course we always hand out information about our center and our programs and how we strengthen the families in our community. This is just one way that we are trying to strengthen the relationships and quality time families can spend together,” said Wright. The event will take place from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and families are urged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to watch all the kites fly.

If you have any questions about the Kite Day Event or would like to learn more about the Family Support Center and Children’s Justice Center services, Wright says give them a call, “They can call us at (435) 636-3739, dial extension 1 or like us on Facebook and Instagram and if you like us on our social media sites then you will usually get all kinds of notices of the things that we have coming up in the year.”
