Its time once again for family and friends to gather for the annual East Carbon Community Daze on July 7 and July 8. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this family-friendly event. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Event Representative, Liz Ferguson to get all the details.

The festivities kick-off with Miner’s Trading Post Parking Lot Party at 3:00 pm. “On Friday we have a night full of fun, its starts at 3:00 pm and goes until 6:00 pm. It’s a Parking Lot Party with plenty of games, food and music. The music is by the Mountain Pacific Band and its is a great night to start off community days,” said Ferguson. There will be bounce houses, face painting, snow cones, walking tacos and hot dogs.

On both Friday and Saturday evening guests can enjoy the 72nd Annual Sunnyside Rodeo at 8:00 pm, with pre-show/kid’s events starting at 6:30 pm. “Its always Friday and Saturday night and it starts at 8:00 pm. They have chicken chase, and they have bull riders, and just all of your fun events that you see at all rodeos. This one is one of the best rodeos because we use our local cowboys from around Carbon and Emery County and other places,” said Ferguson. The admission price to the rodeo is $8.00 per person, with children 6 and under are free. There will be concessions available during the rodeo.

Saturday starts off early with breakfast in the park from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. “From there we go to the parade which starts at 10:00 am. Immediately following the parade is the celebration of Community Daze which is in Sunnyside Park, and again we have, plenty of food, great entertainment, and Bo Huff’s Car Show,” stated Ferguson. There will be several vendors set up inside the park, horseshoe tournament, food, music and just a great time to visit with friends and family. The night will cap off with a dance inside the Sunnyside Park with a live band called The Nanities.

The annual celebration would not be possible without the generous sponsors, as Ferguson explains, “They are Rocky Mountain Power, Carbon County Auditor, Price Ford Auto Farm, Sunnyside Cogen, and Preston Nutter Ranch. They are our top sponsors; they help us out every year.”
