Sharlene Chiaretta, 70, of Ferron, Utah, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 16, 2023.
Sharlene was born on January 29, 1953, to Owen and Norma Wild in Price, Utah. She was the third of five children who grew up living the farm life herding cattle, gathering crops, and showing steers at stock shows.
Mom was a natural caregiver. From a young age she stood next to her sister Annie throughout their school years, and she would always gather the sisters to read them books to go to sleep.
Mom was a good student throughout school. After high school she obtained her LPN from Utah Technical College and went to work at American Fork Training School for the handicapped where she took very good care of her patients. During this time, she became a mother to her “#1 son,” Brandon Wild.
After several years, Sharlene and her son Brandon moved back to Ferron where she worked at various facilities, one of which was the Emery Medical Center where her two younger sisters Carla and Suzy were privileged to work alongside her. During this time, she met our dad Jon (Stickman) and they fell in love. After they were married, they added two more children to the family, Russel and Katrina. She was a loving mother. Shar and dad never went on a trip without us, even on their anniversary. After more than 20 years in the nursing field, she returned to college at CEU where she obtained her RN degree and graduated as salutatorian. For the next 20 plus years, until her retirement, she worked in the ER at Castleview Hospital, where she was well liked and respected by her coworkers and community.
Mom enjoyed playing many sports, especially softball where she was a badass catcher. She and dad loved to go on drives and sing. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She enjoyed many family activities where she was loved by all of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Mom will be remembered for her kind, caring soul, patience with our dad’s eccentric personality, wit, intelligence, and unconditional love for family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Chiaretta; parents, Owen and Norma Wild; in-laws, Jack and Joyce; brother, Don; sister, Ann; and brothers-in-law, Curtis “Pooh” Caldwell and Les Mortensen.
Mom is survived by children, Brandon (Jen) Wild, Russel (Megan) Chiaretta, Katrina (Anthony) Kelley; sisters, Carla Caldwell and Suzy Mortensen; grandchildren, Kaden, Konnor, and Kyler Wild, Shon Chiaretta, Addison, Camden, and Bronson Kelley; sisters-in-law, Laurie (Larry) Murdock and Denise Chiaretta; brother-in-law, Eric Chiaretta; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heirloom Inn, CNS Home Health & Hospice, and Castleview Hospital ICU for taking such good care of mom and our family during this difficult time.
Mom, we love and will miss you. Please give dad a hug for us and we hope you two are up there dancing, singing, and having a ball.
A celebration of Shar’s life will be Friday, July 21, 2023, 3:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
