It’s time to sit down with Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard to find out about Miss Emery County Golf Tournament, recognize the County Fair Committee for a job well done and talk of a new Senior Center in Huntington. Castle Country Radio will now have an opportunity to speak with the commissioner every other week to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.

On August 4 the Miss Emery County Organization will be hosting a day/night golf tournament up at Millsite Golf Course. “It’ll start at 5:30 pm and they’ll play nine holes of golf during the day, then they’ll have a dinner and a raffle. Then once it gets dark, they’ll play the 13 golf holes at night, and it just makes for a fun time, camaraderie. Miss Emery will be there, and all of the Little Miss and others. So a really good time, so if you’re interested in some golf camaraderie, that’ll be a good one to sign up for,” said Commissioner Leonard. Golfers interested in competing in the Miss Emery County Golf Tournament are urged to sign up by calling Millsite Golf Course at (435) 384-2887.

Each interview with Commissioner Leonard he showcases a department within the county that has done a great job and this time he wanted to highlight the Emery County Fair Committee. “Just wanted to give a shoutout to the Fair Committee and all the work that they’ve done. I think these events help get our community together and really all the events that happen in the county, city celebrations. When we all get together and enjoy something together, I think it builds county camaraderie, then others coming to our community, I think its just a good thing. Heritage Days was fantastic a few weeks ago so we’ve had some really good events lately. Just want to shout out to those committees that have made these things happen,” said Commissioner Leonard.

The Emery County Commissioner recently held a regular meeting where there was talk about building a new Senior Citizen Center in Huntington. “We’re looking at building s new Senior Citizen facility in Huntington. The Senior Citizen facility in Huntington has been getting a little bit old and its tough to park and have events and activities. So we’re looking at building a new facility in Huntington and excited about that,” said Commissioner Leonard.

The Emery County Commissioners meet twice a month at 3:00 pm at the Emery County Courthouse at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. A schedule of meetings is listed on the Emery County website at http://www.emerycounty.com/
