It’s time once again for another session of Culture Connection Summer Concert Series on Thursday, July 27 at 7:00 pm at the Price City Peace Gardens with a singer named Rupert Wates. Program Coordinator, Ted Hinckley took time to speak with Castle Country Radio to share all the concert details.
“So Rupert Wates is out of England but lives over in Colorado and he does lots of the house concerts thing. But I had him at a show at an art gallery last year and people were just mesmerized by one, his guitar playing, and two, his singing. He mostly does he’s own stuff, so he’s a songwriter, and he does this thing very well,” said Hinckley. Wates music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. He has released twelve solo CDs. They have received outstanding reviews in the international online press and tracks from them have been played on radio all over the world.
“It’ll be a little mellower than some of these things we’ve done at Culture Connection this year. But you know, Culture Connection, we’re trying to reach all kinds of different people. Man, if you like a good guitar player, good singer, or good story teller, you guys will really enjoy Rupert Wate,” stated Hinckley. Wates averages 120 live shows every year, in front of audiences totaling more than 3,500 in acoustic venues in every state in America, in Canada and in Europe. He prefers small listening rooms where the audience is up close and the emphasis is on the music.
The free outdoor summer concerts are a great way to unwind from the hustle and bustle of a busy work week. Spectators are reminded to bring their lawn chairs and blankets as they find a spot to sit and enjoy the band. Remember to invite family members, friends and neighbors out for an entertaining evening at the Price City Peace Garden on Main Street.
