
Price City’s annual International Days celebration is set to kick-off on Thursday, August 3 running through till Saturday, August 5. Organizers have scheduled numerous individuals/groups to entertain spectators throughout the celebration.
Thursday will kick off with Opening Ceremonies at 7:00 pm where the Parade Grand Marshall and Junior Grand Marshall will be introduced. This will be followed by a Culture Connection Concert Series featuring Gemma Griffith, an award-winning Zimbabwean Vocal Artist. “Gemma Griffith from Zimbabwe, she’s a pop singer. She’s really become, she’s really sings great songs, and become kind of her own voice, she’s really, I think it super that we’re going to have an international act start off International Days,” said Program Coordinator, Ted Hinckley. The opening ceremonies and Gemma Griffith will be on the Peace Garden Stage on Main Street.
The following day, Friday, August 4 all of the entertainment will be taking place at the Washington Park stage. Things kick off at 2:45 pm with a Variety Talent Show hosted by Miss Carbon County Royalty. “We got a great mix on Friday. We’ve got Miss Carbon County Royalty; they’re going to come in and do a Variety Talent Show – we certainly don’t want to miss that. We’ve got Black Corvus, The Deltaz, The SB Experience, we got Imagine, it’s really phenomenal,” said Event Representative, Megan Marshall. The Imagine: Remembering the Fab Four is a Beatles Tribute Band that is sure to entertain the crowd as the second night of celebration commences.
Saturday, August 5 kicks off at noon with Fiddle Express which is a Bluegrass band. Taking the stage at 1:00 pm is the Banjara World Dancers which is a performance you don’t want to miss, as Marshall explains, “Banjara World Dancers, they’re coming from all over the state. Its an amazing group that they’ve put together and they are going to do three different performances throughout the day. Each one is a unique experience, Middle Eastern dancing, they’ve got Bollywood dancing. They are closing it out by doing an around-the-world dance performance. So you’ll get to see lots of different types of styles and it’s just amazing to watch these dancers do this.” The dancers are scheduled to perform at 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm and at 4:15 pm on the Washington Park stage.
Then at 2:30 pm there will be a performance by Linda’s School of Dance. At 3:00 pm, Monkey Friday will take the stage and jam out to pop, rock & funk. “So Monkey Friday out of Provo, I think that you are going to hear, you know, rock from the 70s, into the 80s, but fun, and they’re really good musicians. They’re very polished, seasoned players, and I think that they are really good entertainers,” said Hinckley. Then at 4:30 pm the Castle Country Radio will host their Game Show called Number Please. Then a local favorite will take the stage at 6:30 pm, Angela Murray’s A Night of Broadway. To close out the night will be a band called Stone Company who are sure to get the crowd excited.
