Coming off a season-opening loss to Beaver on Tuesday, the Lady Spartans were back on the pitch for the home opener Thursday, when they welcomed in the Millard Eagles. The game was a defensive battle from the beginning and it took extra minutes but, Millard came away with the 1-0 victory.

Emery struggled with Beaver on Tuesday on the road, eventually falling 6-3, and was no doubt looking forward to playing on the turf in Castle Dale.

From the opening kick, this game went back and forth with one team seemingly unable to figure out the other, as the scoreboard read 0-0 at halftime.

Both teams came out in the second half looking to make something happen and neither team could make noise offensively, pushing the game into overtime, where Millard’s Sydney Braman found the back of the net first securing the win for the Eagles.

The Spartans will now have almost a week to prepare for their region opener next Thursday when the Canyon View Falcons make their way to Castle Dale.

Gametime is set for 4:00 p.m..
