Carbon Dino football was back on the field in Price on Friday night, as they welcomed in the HIllcrest Huskies. The Dinos got onto the board first and held a lead early in the second quarter but the Huskies came on scoring 20 points in the second half and the Dinos couldn’t keep the pace falling 41-20.

Last year the same two teams met on Hillcrest’s field with the Dinos taking the 3-0 win on a walk-off field goal. This season both teams have ramped up their offenses as the final score demonstrated.

Junior Stockton Kennedy, started his first varsity game as quarterback for the Dinos, but it was senior Diego Vega who would get Carbon on the board first with a one-yard push into the endzone, and with the extra point the Dinos were on the board 7-0.

In the second quarter, with the score tied at seven, Kennedy would find Maddux Wilson for a 12-yard strike putting the Dinos up 14-7, after the Luke Brady point after. Hillcrest added two more scores in the second quarter to take the 21-14 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Huskies would put another touchdown on the board early, putting the score at 28-14.

Senior Trevor Jones would score from six yards out to put six more on the board for Dinos but, it would also mark the final offense for Carbon.

The Dinos would have chances throughout the remainder of the second half and were driving toward the end of the fourth but a scoop and score by the Huskies of a Carbon fumble would close the door on the Dinos.

Kennedy was 18-36 for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns, he also ran for 27 yards. Maddux Wilson would haul in six passes for 115 yards and a TD. Stetson Paulson had seven for 83 yards. and Jones had 13 yards and the score.

On the ground junior Tony Wilson had 20 carries for 84 yards, breaking one for 19, and Vega had three carries for a total of 13 yards and the score.

Up next for the Dinos is a road trip for another non-region game in Moab when they will face Grand on Friday night. Game time is set for 7.
