Dixie Kay Swasey, born on November 11, 1950 in Price, Utah, peacefully passed away August 12, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the last of five children born to Berniece Blackburn and William Henry Davis. On December 5, 1970 she married the love of her life, Russell Swasey, and they shared a beautiful life together.

Dixie was deeply grateful for her attentive and loving husband, Russell, who took exceptional care of her throughout their marriage. They loved to travel and had many adventures all across the United States and spent time living in California, Colorado, and Utah. He was not only her spouse but her best friend, and together they raised a daughter, Mindi, and a son, Sheridan, who remained always in touch and close to her heart.

Her family was a source of immense joy for Dixie, especially her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She often wished she could have lived closer to them to spend more time with them.

Dixie was a dedicated and active member of her community. She served in various leadership roles for the Department of Utah American Legion Auxiliary, including President and National American Legion Auxiliary Western Division Girls State Chairman. She also contributed her time and efforts to the Emery County DUP (Daughters of Utah Pioneers) as Chaplain and Old Mill Camp Treasurer, and she served as President of the Emery County Historical Society for over 18 years.

Professionally, Dixie worked for 33 years for Emery County, with 20 of those years spent as the Emery County Recorder. Her expertise and commitment earned her the presidency of the Utah Association of County Recorders and a position on the board of the Utah Association of County Recorders.

Dixie had a zest for life, and she loved traveling and seeking new adventures. She traveled to Belgium, France, Amsterdam, China, and Italy twice! But above all, her heart belonged to her family and friends. Golfing was one of her favorite pastimes, and she cherished her moments spent lunching with a big group of friends.

He faith was an integral part of her life. Dixie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in various callings and found great fulfillment in her service to Jesus and his church.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Russell Swasey of Ferron, UT; her daughter, Mindi (Heath) Ferguson of The Woodlands, TX; her son, Sheridan Swasey, of Ferron, UT; her grandchildren, Trenton (Sierra) Richter of Spokane, WA, Taylor (Tyler) Lynch of New Braunfels, TX, Carson Richter of Houston, TX, Jaxson Swasey and Taytum Swasey both of Blackfoot, ID; sister, Kathleen (Vernell) Rowley of Huntington, UT; brother, Dale Davis of Riverton, UT; her seven cherished great-grandchildren; and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Berniece and William; her grandparents; and her brothers, Ronald and Earl. She was also preceded by her niece, Pam Davis Pickering; and nephew, Shaun Davis.

Dixie will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her community, and her faith. Her loving and adventurous spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and love that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace and be forever in our hearts.
