
Orcelia Gallegos Archuleta, 90, passed away peacefully in the evening of August 7, 2023 in Ferron, Utah.
Orcelia was born October 17, 1932 in Allison, Colorado to Lucas and Theodora Romero Gallegos. She grew up in Allison and Durango, Colorado and moved with her mother and brothers to Salt Lake City, Utah at age 14.
Orcelia married Juan Marcos “Mark” Archuleta on January 23, 1954 in Helper, Utah. Together they raised six boys and many grandchildren, the last one in their later years was granddaughter Cecilia “Sissy” Archuleta. Orcelia worked as a laundress in her teenage years, and until retirement worked in several different sewing factories, a job she quite enjoyed.
Mom enjoyed camping trips with her family, traveling, watching golf, Nascar, John Wayne and Chuck Norris movies. She loved being a member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed dancing. She was an amazing cook who kept her family well fed with her homemade tortillas, empanadas, enchiladas, beans & chili and many other delicious foods.
After she retired, Orcelia and Mark enjoyed traveling with his brothers and their wives to Yuma, Arizona. She also enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada to the casinos.
Orcelia is survived by her three sons, Lynn Archuleta, East Carbon, Utah, Dennis (Debra) Archuleta, Orem, Utah and David (Kris) Archuleta, Santaquin, Utah; her brothers, Floyd Gallegos, Salt Lake City, Utah, Leon Vigil, Spokane, Washington, Richard (Rexene) Gallegos, Helper, Utah, Carl (Josie) Gallegos, Spanish Fork, Utah, Steven (Karen) Gallegos, Alpine, Utah, David Gallegos, Santaquin, Utah; sisters, Brenda (Steve) Conk, Provo, Utah, Debbie Buckner, Green River, Wyoming, Rosalie (Steve) Roberts, Sequim, Washington, Becky (Richard) Farnworth, Spanish Fork, Utah; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sons, Charles, Tim and Donny; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Archuleta; siblings, Leroy and Bob; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held, Saturday, August 19, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah, (1800 East 800 North) in Price for those wishing to attend.
