The C.A.R.E. Coalition, along with Four Corners Community Behavioral Health are excited to be hosting a Water Wars with First Responders on Monday, August 21. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this free end-of-the-summer event.
“So the C.A.R.E. Coalition is the Carbon County Addiction Reduction Elimination Coalition, it is made up of all different partners within the community, coming together for one singular purpose and that is the care of our youth,” said Community Health Suicide Prevention Specialist, Amanda McIntosh. Now that school will be in session the coalition is excited to be hosting their monthly family gatherings again.
The Water Wars event is a great way for families to end their summer with a fun activity. “We are excited for our families to come together and start participating in our family events that we do once of month. This time it’s fun because we are getting our First Responders involved. We’re going to be supplying water balloons, water guns and slingshots. We actually have a challenge for the community to challenge their favorite First Responder to this water battle,” said McIntosh. This event will be held at Wellington City Park at 6:30 pm till 7:30 pm.
The C.A.R.E. Coalition is committed to providing a safe environment that empowers youth to be healthy, successful and compassionate members of the community. “Families are the cornerstone of any student of every community, we want to make sure they feel supported, that they know there are resources available if they come into a situation where they are struggling, and that there is no judgement involved in that. We want to help, we want to be there for our students, we want to be there for the families and we couldn’t ask for anything better,” said McIntosh. There will be refreshments shared at the event.
