The Emery Spartan cross country teams hit the course at the Cottonwood Complex to start the season on Saturday, and Emery senior Camdon Larsen came away with the top spot on the boys side as did the Spartan boys team. The Lady Spartans only had four runners but finished the day with two members in the top 15.

Grantsville finished behind Emery in second place, Carbon, Union and Morgan rounded out the top five.

Larsen finished ahead of the field turning in a time of 15:22.6, almost thirty seconds in front of EJ Lee from Morgan who turned in a time of 15:51. Dillan Larsen finished in sixth, Jack Christiansen in eighth and Mason Hurdsman rounded out the top five finishers for the Spartans.

On the ladies side it was Addie Hurst finishing in fourth place overall, Carlie Hurst ended the day in 12. Melody Lake came in 18 and Kylee Willis finished 31.

The Spartans head back out on the road in Richfield, this Saturday August 19.
