Barbara Marleen Carlson Halverson, age 90, of Sandy, Utah passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 20, 2023.

She was born on November 21, 1932, in Mutual, Utah to Fracis Oscar and Hazel Luella Checketts Carlson. Barbara was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother.

Barbara grew up in Cleveland, Utah. Barbara was the 12th of 16 siblings. She learned to have a strong work ethic as a child growing up on a farm. Barbara moved to St. Paul, Minnesota with her job with Cenex/Land O’Lakes headquarters where she was department manager of accounting. She loved spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren. Barbara loved to travel. She spent her time later in life serving others. In her 80s she volunteered at the Sandy Bishop’s Storehouse.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Patricia Marie Sorensen (Rob); son, Gregory Lee Waters; brother, Gene Carlson (Janis); seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Francis Oscar and Hazel Luella Carlson; 14 siblings; daughters, Debra Marleen Stookey, Denise Lenore Waters; son, Rulon LaMar Waters.

Barbara will be remembered as an angel for her service to her family, community, her love of gardening, her silly catch phrases, and for her love of family and friends. She is being welcomed home by many loved ones who have passed on before her. She will be greatly missed until we meet again. May she rest in peace and be forever in our hearts.

Graveside service, Thursday, August 24, 2023, 11:00 a.m., Cleveland Town Cemetery (520 Cleveland Road, Cleveland, Utah 84518).
