childhood-cancer

The Third Annual Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Rock Painting & Memorial Walk will take place in September. This two-part event will feature the Rock Painting portion which will take place on September 6 and September 7 at 4:00 pm and the Memorial Walk will then take place on September 23 at 8:00 am. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Event Organizer, Landrie Anderson to discuss all the details.

“Well it started out as kind of a project to do with rock painting, kind of like those kindness, happy, supportive rocks. But I wanted it to have a purpose and I wanted it to mean something more specific to a group of people. So with it being September I chose Childhood Cancer Awareness,” said Anderson. She has made this an annual event because she looks forward to meeting folks each year who are somehow affected by cancer.

The rock painting portion of the event will take place on September 6 and September 7. “So the 6th and 7th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm is the paint nights where you can come, anyone can come and paint anything positive, happy, anything on a gold rock. You don’t even have to know anybody just something positive to help make someone’s day. All materials are provided just bring your creativity,” said Anderson. Paint night will be held at the Sun Somewhere Real Estate Station at 20 North Carbon Avenue in Price.

The Memorial Walk will take place on Saturday, September 23.  “So you’ll meet at the north parking lot, which is behind JBs, bright an early at 8:00 am is when the walk starts. We take the walk throughout the whole Price River Trail and once you get to the end, that’s where you can view the rock memorial and there placed around a tree,” explained Anderson. This year’s rocks will be added to the memorial where you can view the previous years rocks.
