The Lady Spartans have yet to come out on the losing side of a match this season. Last weekend they traveled to Nephi for the Juab Tournament, taking on teams from around the state. When they returned home they were still holding on to a 10-0 record and are now getting prepared for region play.

The Lady Spartans had played three games before the tournament which included a region win over the Delta Rabbits.

Things got started for Emery Friday when they met Ogden out of the 3A ranks, losing their only set of the weekend in the first 27-26. They closed out the Tigers 25-13 and 15-10.

The Duchesne Eagles were next for the Spartans. Duchesne is in 2A and the Spartans had already faced them once this season with Emery taking the three sets to none win. New venue same result as Emery won in straight sets 25-12 and 25-21.

Hillcrest, a 4A school from the Wasatch Front was up next for the Lady Spartans and it was another sweep for Emery 25-7 and 25-12.

The final match-up on day one for the Spartans put them up against the Intermountain Christian Lions. The Lions play in 2A Region 16. The first set was really over before it began with Emery earning the 25-4 win. The second set while more competitive went to the black and gold 25-22.

Saturday bright and early the Spartans would play the first of three games taking on Monticello, a team that plays in the 1A classification.  Last season, the Buckaroo earned the top spot in Region 23 and finished in fifth in 1A. Emery got to work taking a straight set victory 25-10 and 25-11.

The Providence Hall Patriots from Herriman are a team from 3A Region 14 playing against Judge Memorial, Summit Academy and Juan Diego, but it was just another opponent that Emery took care of in straight sets 25-10 and 25-11.

The final match of the weekend was was against the North Sanpete Hawks. The Spartans and the Hawks are pretty familiar with one another since both teams reside in Region 12, but this was their first meeting of the season with Emery getting the win in straight sets. The two teams will meet each other two times in the regular season.

The Spartans are on the court twice this week, on Tuesday they will travel to Manti, and on Thursday they will welcome Juab to the Spartan Center.

Game time on Thursday is set for 6:30 p.m..
