Lady Dinos volleyball made the trip to St. George to take part in the Dixie Flyer Tournament. It is one that they participate in every year and gives them the opportunity to face teams that they may not get the chance to in the regular season. This year Carbon came back with a 4-1 record after the weekend.

The Dinos got things started on Friday, taking on the Spanish Fork Dons from the 5A  class. The match was extremely close but Carbon took the win in three sets 25-21, 19-25, and 17-15.

Host team Dixie was the next opponent for the Lady Dinos on Friday. The Flyers play in the 4A class and had only been on the court twice before tournament play earning a 0-2 record. Carbon was dominant in this one winning in straight sets 25-16, 25-12.

The final match of the day was against 2A Waterford Academy. The Ravens entered the weekend at 1-1 on the season. Carbon went to work quickly again in this one with another straight-set win 25-16 and 25-16, and allowed Carbon to go through day one with a perfect 3-0 record.

Saturday the Dinos faced another 2A school, Kanab. The Cowboys were last season’s  2A runner-up losing to Parowan in the finals and are always a tough opponent, and would prove that by taking the Dinos to four sets. Set number one was a battle going back and forth with Carbon taking the 25-23 win. Set two belonged to Kanab 25-19, and the Lady Dinos would come back taking sets three and four, 25-11 and 25-20.

The final match of the weekend was against some familiar competition for Carbon, the Canyon View Falcons. The Dinos and the Falcons will face off twice in region play this season and this meeting went to Canyon View 25-22, 25-17, 21-25, and 25-20, as the Dinos could only come away with the third set in the match.

Carbon gets back at it Tuesday at home when they will welcome fellow Region 12 member Richfield to Price. The Wildcats are sitting at 2-5 this season overall and 0-1 in league play falling to Canyon View.

The game is set to begin at 6:30 p.m..
