It’s time to sign-up for the new 4-H year! The USU-Extension-Carbon County is excited to be hosting their annual 4-H Family Night on Wednesday, September 6 at 6:30 pm at the Carbon County Event Center on Fairgrounds Road. Castle Country Radio sat down with Program Coordinator, DeLayna Barr to discuss all the details.
The annual membership fee is $10.00 per person and registration for various 4-H clubs is now open. There are so many clubs to choose from as Barr explains, “It’s robotics, its leadership, it’s Harry Potter, it’s coding. There’s so much that we can offer for these kids. Like you started to talk about the soft skills that they can gain being in 4-H, with their communication, leadership, and being a member of their community.” The types of clubs are endless as officials are always up for new ideas when it comes to developing a new club.
The 4-H Family Night will offer some fun STEM activities for families to enjoy and it will also give them a taste of some of the clubs that are now available. “It’s true, we’re going to have STEM projects where kids will make a circuit to make the light bulb go on. We’re going to have an animal or two there to come and check out and learn more about. We’re going to have a trail-mix bar, we’re going to have an art station and we’ve got a Service Project that we’re excited about for the food bank, so we could use some help on that Service Project,” stated Barr. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Family Night event or at the USU Extension Office in Price.
The 4-H Family Night is a perfect opportunity for families to come out and learn all there is to know about 4-H. “If you’ve got questions, come, we’ll answer it – come see what we have to offer for this Fall year. Meet and mingle with some of our other 4-H families and they can tell you more about it also,” said Barr. Light refreshments will be served.
