The 37th Annual Helper Outlaw Car Show & Cruise will take place on Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2 at the Helper City Park. Event Coordinator, Mike James stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details of the car show.

Things kick off with the annual cruise night on Friday where cars will gather at the Main Street Park to go on a cruise up around Kenilworth and back down to Helper’s Historic Main Street. “Tonight, it will be at the Main Street Park there on Main Street. We start our cruise, then we have a Poker Walk, where you get to go into the different stores and get a card, and come back. Who ever wins is going to get some pretty unique prizes. Actually, we’re going to have first, second and third prize for the Poker Walk this year, which we’ve never had before,” said James. Car owners will have the opportunity to sign-up for the car show on this evening if they would like to or they can sit in the park to visit while enjoying some great music by Rockin Hot Rod Production.

Saturday things kick off bright and early as registration begins at 8:00 am at the Helper City Park near the swimming pool. “One thing about Helper Park, I’ve been to a lot of parks, lot of car shows all over the state and Helper has the best trees in it for a park. Anybody that has been to a bunch of car shows that comes down from up north will tell you that. Yes, there is free swimming, you can go over to the pool and swim for awhile and do what you want over there, you know, its going to be a good time you know for everybody,” stated James. All cars/trucks/ motorcycles will be on display all day on Saturday before the awards ceremony takes place that late afternoon.

This year’s awards are unique moonshine jugs that were made in Helper. There will also be a drawing for airbrushed refrigerator. “Yea we have one that we are calling the Helper Heritage Fridge, its really a fridge. My buddy airbrushed it, all three sides, its probably got about $1,500.00 paint job on it and we’re going to auction it off. Then we have two that we’re going to raffle off, one that has the rat fink on it and he’s holding a pick with a miner’s hat on and we call him Coal Fink,” said James. You can purchase tickets for the opportunity drawing at the registration table.
