The Lady Dino soccer team welcomed Emery to Price on Thursday for their first region match-up for the 2023 season. The Dinos strayed out quietly but found another gear in the second half taking the 8-0 win over the Lady Spartans.

Carbon is sitting at 6-3 overall and 5-2 in Region 12 play. They also hold the No. 5 spot in the Utah High School Activities Association’s RPI.

Emery is on the other end of the RPI at No. 18 with an 0-9 record overall and 0-7 in region play.

Carbon came out in the first half and couldn’t find the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead at the half.  The second half was a completely different story as the Dinos seemed to be able to score at will finding the back of the net seven different times, taking the 8-0 over victory Emery.

For the Dinos, Amiah Timothy scored three times and assisted on two others. Blythe Bradford scored three times as well and earned one assist. Mia Crompton and Bailey Johnson each scored a goal and Johnson went on to add an assist. Taree Pressett collected a pair of assists as well. Fortune Ward was dynamic in goal once again with nine saves and recorded her fifth shutout of the season.

The Lady Spartans will head back to the field on Tuesday as they travel to Cedar City to face the No. 1 Canyon View Falcons.

Carbon will also be on the road Tuesday, when they travel to Mount Pleasant to face the No. 13 North Sanpete Hawks.
