The Emery Spartan and Carbon Dinos clashed on the tennis courts on Thursday in Castle Dale. Both teams are coming off losses in their last matches, so something had to give, and unfortunately for Carbon it was the Dinos as Emery claimed the 4-2 win.

Emery who sits at 4-5 this season was just beaten by arguably one of the best teams in all of 3A, Juab on Tuesday. Carbon had just returned from Richfield on Wednesday after getting swept by the Wildcats 6-0.

Emery got going in the first singles match as Brooklynn Ekker got pushed to the limit by the Dinos’ Ella Anderson, but hung in there for the 6-1, 5-7, and 6-4 win. In second singles, it was Cheyenne Bingham taking the straight set win 6-1, 6-0 over Emmalee Miller. Third singles was the only singles match that Carbon would win as the Dinos’ Izabelle Pugliese took the 6-0 and 6-1 win.

In doubles matches Acelyn Migliori and Tailynn Minchey as well as Chloe Wagner and Kallee Oliver both gathered wins in first and second doubles respectively, and the Carbon duo of Mandy Riggs and Ireland Keil earned the win in third doubles.

Carbon will be at home on September 12 to face the Manti Templars and Emery welcomes Richfield as they come to Castle Dale.  Both matches are set to begin at 3:30 p.m..
