Carbon High School celebrated Homecoming Week last week. Pep assemblies, fun events and a parade are always a part of the festivities, and they always culminate with the football game on Friday night. The Dinos opponent this year was a member of Region 12, Manti. The Templars are ranked at No.3 in the state RPI, and they played like it handing Carbon a 74-0 loss.

The Dinos have been handed four straight losses after the win over Grand on August 18, and the game with Manti marked the first region contest of the season. Region 12 has five teams in the top 10 and the teams sitting in the top three Richfield, Canyon View and Manti all reside there.

Defensively, Carbon couldn’t find a way to slow down Manti quarterback  Maison Starkweather, who  didn’t waste time getting the Templars in the end zone with a 23-yard pass to Reggie Frischknecht at the 11:25 mark of the first quarter. It was the first of seven passing touchdowns for Starkweather in the first half, he would also run one in from seven yards out.

Offensively for the Dinos sophomore Paxton Falk, got his second straight start as the leader of Carbon, but everything that the Dinos tried Manti had an answer for, creating three interceptions and two fumbles.

It doesn’t get any easier for Carbon the rest of the way, up this week it’s a trip to the No.1 team in 3A Richfield. The Wildcats have a perfect 6-0 record and are coming off a 24-14 win over Juab.  After Richfield they will face No. 10 North Sanpete on the road and then on October 6 they face the No. 8 Juab Wasps in Nephi. After the three game road trip they will return home for the final regular season contest with No. 2 Canyon View.

The game Friday night with Richfield will be available on KRPX 95.3 The Peak as well as streamed live on both the Castle Country Radio app and castlecountryradio.com.

The Landon’s Diesel Pre-game show will start at 6:30 and kick-off will follow at 7:00 p.m..
