George Richard Stella passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was born July 29, 1944 to Mike Stella and Mary Sacco.

He was a Vietnam veteran, a carbon county local who worked in different mines and ran his own sandblasting business. In later years, he owned and operated the old mine bar.

On June 14, 1969, he married Elara Jean Duncan, later divorced. George never remarried because he was a ladies’ man. He loved fishing, elk hunts on Winter Quarters, and being in the saddle of a horse. He was a cowboy through and through and the life of the party. He enjoyed coffee with the boys and a good game of rummy with Alex Chavis. Since he wasn’t married, he did his bickering with his cousin, Albert Lodeserto. When it came to visits at his home, you could always find a home cooked meal and a cold beer.

He carried on a friendship with many people: Alfred Willis, Jack Marinos, Gary and Sue Murch, Garth Pitts, Denis Scartezina, Tammy and Allen Allred, Billie Joe and Linda Hawkins, Grandma Leach, and Tino Guitterez. These people were near and dear to his heart.

George will be laid to rest with all of his farm dogs that he loved dearly.

George is survived by his faithful farm dog, Max; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Shilo Murch of Wellington, UT; brother, Scott (Deb) Stella of Helper, UT; sister, Danna (Bud) Melo, Roosevelt, UT; granddaughters, Ashley Fredrickson Murch, Wellington, Kayla (Grant) Kingery, Eagle Mountain, UT, and Chelsea Murch, Provo, UT. Also carrying his legacy, Tuff Davi Black, Romana S. Trejo, Kenz Dowley, and Jet Kingery.

George is preceded in death by his parents, his aunt and uncle, and sister, Volanda Wilkinson.

A celebration of life will be held on May 4, 2024 at his farm in Wellington. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends and family are welcome daily and may share memories of George online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
