In conjunction with September’s Recovery Month local organizations have worked together to host a Recovery Carnival for families in the Castle Country area. This event is set for Friday, September 22 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Carbon County Event Center on Fairgrounds Road. StepOne Service Coordinator, Savannah Ely and Growth & Outreach Director, Jenn Colosimo stopped by Castle Country Radio to share details about the event.
“We wanted to do a Family Recovery Day this month because it is Recovery Month. You know wrap our arms around the whole family because the whole family really goes through it with the person that’s struggling. If you ever had a loved one who struggles, they’re dealing with a lot of traumas, but I think often times the families forget that they’re also dealing with trauma. They’re traumatized by a lot of the situations that the person is going through, so we just want to empower the families to heal together,” said Ely. This event is free and all families in both Carbon and Emery Counties are invited to attend.
There will be food, entertainment and tons of prizes for participants to enjoy throughout the evening. “So we are going to roll off at 4:00 pm and we are all on the event center lawn. So just there like where the playground is, right before you would go in to the fairgrounds like for a rodeo or the derby. So all of our local community partners have been amazing to work with. We’ve got USARA Recovery, Life Balance, Four Corners has been a huge support for us, Carbon Medical as well. They are all going to come do fun things with the kids but we’re doting on We Recover Together and that’s actually the theme that we used this year,” explained Colosimo. Castleview Hospital will be serving up hot dogs for dinner and the ice cream truck will be on hand.
This carnival would not be possible without the numerous sponsors that have stepped up to help, they are as follows:
Castleview Hospital Southeast Utah Health Department
Carbon Medical Life Balance Recovery
Children Justice Center USARA – Price
StepOne Service USU Extension
Four Corners Community Behavioral Health
