football-8

The Dino football squad traveled to Richfield to take on the Wildcats in a Region 12 tilt. It was homecoming for the Wildcats, and the game ended with the Richfield handing the Dinos their sixth loss of the season, 51-3.

Richfield came out firing taking a 34-0 lead in the first quarter. The Carbon defense could not slow down the Richfield offense, as the Wildcats scored four times when they were in possession of the ball.  Richfield’s defense had the Dinos number all night as they picked off Carbon’s Paxton Falk and returned it for the fifth touchdown of the quarter.

After the first quarter, the game quieted down, and the Dinos held the Wildcats to a single touchdown in the second quarter.

It seemed that Carbon was their own worst enemy at certain points of the game as penalties and turnovers as Richfield had a pair of interceptions in the contest.

The Dinos were able to get on the board at the 7:32 mark of the fourth quarter as Luke Brady hit a 19-yard field goal. Richfield answered back with a field goal of their own taking the 51-3 win and dropping the Dinos to 1-6 on the season.

Carbon is sitting in the No.11 spot in the RPI and has a meeting coming up this Friday against the No.10 North Sanpete Hawks on the road. The Hawks hold the same 1-6 record as the Dinos. Last season they traveled to Price and handed the Dinos a 37-7 loss.

Two games remain after the North Sanpete tilt. On October 6 the Dinos are on the road in Nephi to face Juab, and the regular season comes to a close on Thursday, October 12 when the Dinos will celebrate their seniors as Canyon View comes to town.

The contest with North Sanpete will be available on KRPX 95.3 The Peak. The Landon’s Diesel Service Pre-game show will begin at 6:30 p.m., and kickoff follows at 7.
