It’s time to sit down with Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard to find out about some upcoming October events, and recognize the Assessor’s Office. Castle Country Radio now has the opportunity every other week to speak with the commissioner to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.

The Joe’s Valley Fest will be returning on October 5 through October 8 and the county is anticipating hundreds of climbers. During this event climbers are invited to participate in various workshops like making pizza at the local pizzeria, baking donuts at Food Ranch or making jerky at Ungerman Meats. “The goal is to bring the rock climbers into our local businesses so they can get to know each other and when the rock climbers are here, they’re spending money and coming into our community. So really good event, if you want to go to https://www.joesvalleyfest.com/ to look at the schedule. It should be a great time and always fun,” said Commissioner Leonard. Organizers are excited to be hosting this event in October as the temperatures will be cooler for the rock climbers.

The Emco Paranormal Con is coming to the Museum of the San Rafael October 13 and October 14. “Paranormal Con great opportunity to come and rub shoulders with those that are interested. So vendors, events, and fun things going on that weekend. You can go to the https://www.museumofthesanrafael.org/ to get more information on that event,” said Commissioner Leonard. This is sure to be a spooky fundraising event for the museum with experts discussing the possibility of aliens, bigfoot, state secrets and ghosts.

With each radio interview Commissioner Leonard likes to highlight a department for a job well done and this time around it’s the Assessor and Auditor’s Office. “Those offices have been instrumental in our Board of Equalization. So those of you don’t know what that is we have our property taxes and we talk about those property taxes and what we can do to help our community. Property taxes have gone up and so we have had a lot of meetings to try and help,” said Commissioner Leonard. This is a really busy time for both offices but if you see any of them, please thank them for job well done.

The Emery County Commissioners meet twice a month at 3:00 pm at the Emery County Courthouse at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. A schedule of meetings is listed on the Emery County website at http://www.emerycounty.com/
