The Notre Dame Oktoberfest will kick off on Friday, September 29 and the fun will carry on till Saturday, September 30 at the Notre Dame Hope Center at 185 South Carbon Avenue. The entire community is invited to attend this family friendly event.

The event takes place every year and is sure to bring you some very delicious dinners on both nights. Friday night will feature a Mexican dinner beginning at 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm. If you would like something other than the featured Mexican dinner there will be sausage, kielbasa, hamburgers, and hotdogs available to purchase too. Friday evening there will be will several fun games for the entire family to enjoy from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Event organizers will have for sale again this year their famous apple strudels. “We made over 200 pounds of strudel, we usual make about 225 but we ran out of apples so we cut it back a little bit this year, but its great. We sell it cooked and we also sell it frozen with directions and you can take it home, put it in your freezer and cook it later,” said Event Representative, Katherine Cane. There will be a bake sale taking place during the event, it will feature all sorts of pastries and desserts.

On Saturday the doors will open at 11:00 am with all the usual food for sale like sausage, kielbasa, hamburgers, and hotdogs, with a Lasagna Dinner served on Saturday night. “Sam’s lasagna starts at 4:00 pm and we run until we run out of Sam’s lasagna. We have kids’ games from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and we have other games from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and then again from 7:00 pm till 10:00 pm,” said Cane. Winners for the opportunity drawings and silent auction will be announced towards the end of the night.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the church and its charitable and civic involvements, Cane explains who the recipients will be this year, “This year we’re giving money to the pregnancy center, the Price Fire Department Sub for Santa program, the Community CARES Christmas Dinner, and Meals on Wheels.”
