024-3

Emery volleyball started the season on a roll winning their first 14, and debuted in the first RPI of the season at No. 2. Then came back-to-back losses against Canyon View and Carbon, after that were two wins in a row and the Lady Spartans seemed to be back on track. On Tuesday the Manti Templars came to the Spartan Center, and the two teams were locked in a battle with Manti coming out on top 3-2.

Sitting at 16-3 overall and 6-3 in region play, and holding the No.4 spot in the RPI, Emery will have plenty of chances to move up before the final match of the season on October 17.

Manti came out grabbing the first two sets 25-22 and 25-11. That second set must have woken up the Spartans as they battled back to take set three 25-23, and then in another tight set Emery took set four 26-24.

The fifth and deciding set played out like all the rest a 15-13 slugfest with Manti taking the match 3-2.

Emery has a couple of matches coming up that could help their cause on the RPI front. It’s both a blessing and a curse playing in Region 12 as two of the top three teams belong to the Spartans region, and Emery will face them both before the end of the season, No. 3 Canyon View and No. 1 Carbon.

Up next is a road trip on Thursday to face Juab. And then Tuesday and Thursday they welcome in Canyon View and Carbon respectively.
