After a strong showing at the Region 12 Championships in Mount Pleasant, the field was set for the State Tennis Championships that started on Saturday, the Utah High School Activities Association has introduced a “play-in” round which took place once again at North Sanpete High School in Mount Pleasant. Ella Anderson, in first singles, along with both doubles teams advanced to the next round of matches that will take place Friday and Saturday at Liberty Park, in Salt Lake City.

Ella Anderson, who has performed well all season long, earned the two set match win over Emily Nicholson of Wasatch Academy 6-3 and 6-4. She will advance to the next round to face Afton Orgill of Grantsville.

The first doubles team of Veronica Cartwright and Lyndie Richardson will move on after their hard fought win over the Delta duo of Myia Morris and Kylie Gardner, 7-6 (7-3) and 6-2. In the next round they will square up with Emery’s Acelyn Migliori and Tailynn Minchey, they have faced each other twice this season with each duo winning on their home court.

The second doubles team of Allena Ison and Emmalee Miller received a first round bye and they will meet-up with Elle Prasthofer and Isabelle Bown of Rowland Hall.
