Katherine A. Naranjo Sisneros, 88, of Price, UT passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on October 8, 2023.
She was born October 28, 1934, in Fruita, Colorado, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Lucy Roybal Naranjo. She was the first of four siblings, followed by Jeanette Naranjo Jones and preceded in death by Charlotte Naranjo Turner and Severiano Naranjo.
She moved from Fruita, Colorado to Spring Canyon, Utah in 1940 and graduated from Carbon High School in 1952. On February 27, 1954 she married the love of her life, Raymond E. Sisneros, who preceded her in death on June 25, 2013.
After marriage, Katherine had six children but had it well in hand due to the early death of her own mother. At the age of 14 she helped her father raise her siblings ages, 5, 9 and 12.
Katherine worked for Carbon County School district with 25 years of dedicated service in Child Nutrition Services. It was apparent that Katherine loved children, as her house was always filled with them. Even before her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, she had continued to help her siblings with their children as they grew up. They all have fond summer memories of staying in Price at Aunt Katherine’s house. She was small in stature but had an enormous presence! Having so many kids around all the time, she ran a tight ship, but was always kind.
Katherine’s hobbies included crocheting, needlepoint, knitting, cooking the best tortillas, which all still entailed teaching and developing young minds. The one thing she did for herself was reading. And even that instilled the love of reading in all of us. She was also a devout member of the Catholic Church.
She was also kind to many pets and animals throughout her life, however in the last years, her two tiny dogs, Monkey Moose and Mimi, were always at her side. She loved them with all her heart, and in return they filled her with happiness and joy to the very end.
The family would like to thank Kelly Lim, Katherine’s in-home caregiver of seven years and the professionals from Charter that helped her in the final months. Also, Taresa Marshall who was always there when needed.
Katherine is survived by her remaining five children and their spouses, John Sisneros (Diane, deceased) of Price, UT, Raymond J. Sisneros of Price, UT, Danny Sisneros of SLC, UT, Billy Sisneros (Mila, deceased) of Price, UT, Catherine Sisneros DaSilva (Alexander) of Draper, UT; eight grandchildren, Jason Sisneros, SLC, UT, Taylor Ann Sisneros Norton, Price, UT, Lauren Sisneros, Seattle, WA, Joey Sisneros, South Jordan, UT, Jessi Sisneros Heinritz, Paonia, CO, Alexis Sisneros Sandoval, Price, UT, Sara Sisneros, Rock Springs, WY, Franco Sanchez Torres, Frankfurt, Germany; 15 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
