013-9

The Lady Spartans soccer team had to travel to Kamas on Saturday to take on South Summit in the opening round of the 3A State Soccer Championships. The Wildcats found the back of the net twice handing Emery a 2-0 loss and ending their season.

The Lady Spartans were a very young squad this year with just five seniors. There were plenty of growing pains as unfortunately, Emery was unable to capture a victory this season, ending with a 0-17 record.

The first half of the contest with South Summit was played even as neither team was able to put points on the scoreboard. In the second half, however, The Wildcats came out and found the goal twice to take the 2-0 win, moving on in the playoffs.

For South Summit, Marina Moore and Regan Beckstead each had a goal in the win.

The Spartans head into the offseason looking forward. The underclassmen on this season’s team will step into leadership roles for next year, with some positives to build on from this season as well.
