Finishing the first day just nine strokes off the lead, the Carbon Dinos fired a team score of 613, securing a fourth-place finish. The Spartans finished inside the day one cut with a 319 and finished the season off with a 646 to grab eighth place overall.
The Morgan Trojans carried a four-stroke lead into the final day and managed to protect the lead enroute to a state championship with a score of 591. The Union Cougars finished in a distant second with 606, topping third place Richfield’s 608. Carbon finished two-strokes better than Juab and Ogden, who tied for fifth.
Carbon junior Rydge Butler posted the team’s lowest two-day score as he finished with a 148. Butler was a consistent force the for the Dinos, shooting a 74 in each of the two days and missed out on a top five finish by only two-strokes.
After shooting a 72 in round one, freshman Dayton King finished off his season with a 77, placing him in a 10th place tie overall. King, the Region 12 medalist, entered the final round trailing Morgan’s Lance Loughton by five-strokes at the top of the leaderboard.
The third and fourth scores from Carbon came from Kyler Clark and Cole Callahan. Clark shot a 79 on both days, finishing the state tournament with a 158. Callahan also shot a 79 in the first round but dropped two strokes on the final day with an 81 to finish the season with a 160.
The Emery Spartans turned in a successful stint, qualifying for the final day and finishing eighth overall in the field of 18 teams.
Alex Hansen improved his second day total by four-strokes to end with the team’s low score at 162, finishing 34th overall individually. Champ Justice ended just one-stroke back as he fired a 163.
Both Turner Stoker and Dempsey Toomer shot a 164, giving the Spartans their third and fourth scores. Stoker scored an 82 both days, while Toomer finished with an 81 and 83 respectively.
