The Carbon Dinos started fast but could not keep pace with the Canyon View Falcons, falling 56-7 in the regular season finale Thursday night at home.
It took just four plays for the Dinos to capture an early 7-0 lead, scoring on the opening drive of the game. Junior quarterback Stockton Kennedy connected with Luke Brady on a 49-yard pass with 10:27 to play in the first quarter.
Canyon View wasted little time getting even as quarterback Jaxon Jensen found Trenton Ludlow for a 65-yard touchdown on the Falcon’s first play from scrimmage.
The Dinos continued to have early success on the ground and converted a fourth-and-one near midfield. Moments later Kennedy was picked off as an attempt was tipped in the middle of the field. The Falcons took advantage of the short field and captured the lead six plays later as Lincoln Rushton scored on a five-yard run with 6:50 left in the opening quarter.
The Falcons would go one to score the final 42 points of regulation, improving their overall record to 8-2 and region tally to 3-2. Known for their prolific offense, the game marked the third time this season the Falcons scored 50 or more points.
Thursday’s loss drops the Dinos to 1-9 on the season and 0-5 in region play. After starting the season 1-1, Carbon finished the regular season with eight consecutive losses.
