The United Way of Eastern Utah is currently accepting Angel Tree Applications now through Nov. 17. Any families who are in need of assistance with Christmas this year are urged to apply before the deadline. Director, Pam Boyd stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss the application process.

She first wanted to mention that the Pop-Up Shoe Store events were a hit both here and in San Juan County, and she is looking forward to going to Unita Basin next month. “Yes, our last Soles 2 Souls pop-up event is going to be in Roosevelt on November 4 at the Uinta Basin Health Center, 9:00 am to noon. We’ve not been up there before, so we’re very excited to be expanding into the northern part of our territory and yea,” said Boyd. The event provides students with brand-new shoes for the school year, and was a project developed by Boyd last year. She got the idea from her experience growing up working in her dad’s shoe store. This year alone there have been 1,000 pairs of shoes that have gone to students in need.

The holidays are right around the corner and it’s now time to submit your Angel Tree Applications for the year. “Ok, the deadline is November 17 and the applications are available online on our website, which is https://www.uweu.org/ or they’re on the door of our office which is at Room 105 in Price City Hall,” explained Boyd. On the application, families are required to submit income verification, provide ID, and share information about their child’s Christmas wishes. Price City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm so you can pick up an application during that time when the building is open to the public.

It’s imperative that the application is completed accurately in order for it to be processed in a timely manner.  Incorrect or partially completed applications will not be processed. Once your application is completed you are urged to hand deliver the application to the United Way of Eastern Utah Office. “I always tell people, take your time with the application, and make it legible because we’re not able to fulfill those wishes if we can’t read those wishes. So we just ask people to give it time to come in, if you have it all together, its really just a matter of dropping it off and saying hi, you know. Then with that people have a complete application, we can process them, get them in the system, and if you don’t hear from us, you’re accepted,” explained Boyd. Individuals are more than welcome to call the United Way of Eastern Utah office to schedule a time to drop off their Angel Tree application.

If anyone has any questions about the Angel Tree application process, they are urged to call the United Way of Eastern Utah office on Tuesdays or Thursdays at (435) 637-8911 or they may email the office at liveunited@uweu.org
