Walter Dickerson, age 74, passed away October 15, 2023 due to an accident in Price, Utah.

Walter was born February 19, 1950, in Dragerton, Utah to Thomas and Opal Halladay Dickerson Sr.

He first married Patricia Ann Smith, then remarried in 1978 to Inga Maestas in East Carbon; they remained married until his death.

Walter, better known as Papa by his many grandkids, spent much of his life living in the town of East Carbon. He worked in the mines around Carbon County and in Colorado. After leaving the mines, Walter made a living doing odd jobs cutting trees and handyman work in and around East Carbon. When Walter finally retired, he spent his time wandering around East Carbon with a smile on his face and a good word for anyone and everyone. He was always willing to stop, pass the time with a bit of gossip with anyone that was willing. When he wasn’t doing that, he was watching his favorite channel on TV: The Hallmark Channel.

He is survived by his wife, Inga Dickerson of East Carbon, Utah; sister, Shirley Stevenson of Pueblo, Colorado; children, Marty Dickerson (Dalene) of West Valley, Utah, Terri Paulk (Ricky) of Price, Utah, Jenifer Dickerson of Denver, Colorado, Eric Dickerson (DeAnne) of Clearfield, Utah, Chris Dickerson of Tremonton, Utah, Tianna Dickerson of Denver, Colorado, Lily Dickerson of Clearfield, Utah, and Kiira Dickerson, East Carbon, Utah; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Opal; brothers, Thomas Jr., Robert, Ronald, Jack, and Richard; and granddaughter, Caitlyn.

Funeral service, Monday, October 23, 2023, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501), where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah.
