The Lady Dinos closed out the regular season in North Sanpete on Tuesday. With the playoffs starting on Saturday the 21, Carbon is entering post-season play on a three game losing streak thanks in part to North Sanpete who handed the Dinos a straight set loss.

All three sets were close, but Carbon just couldn’t get over the hump to claim a victory. In the first set the Hawks earned a 25-23 win. Set two was a hard fought battle but North Sanpete earned the 25-21 victory. In the final set the two teams went at each other and it was competitive, but Carbon dropped the set 25-23, falling 3-0 in the match.

Carbon closed out the regular season with an overall record of  18-7, including a 9-5 Region 12 mark. The Lady Dinos also hold the No.3 seed in the State Championships, which get underway with opening round play on Saturday.

Emery grabbed the No. 1 overall seed followed by last year’s state champs, the Morgan Trojans at No. 2.  Carbon, Canyon View, and Manti make up the remainder of the top five.

Along with the No. 3 spot, Carbon also earned an opening round bye and will not get started until Wednesday the 25, when the tournament will shift from home sites to Utah Valley University. The Dinos will take on the winner of No. 14 Juab (7-18) and No 19 Ben Lomond (3-18), in their first match at 10:30 a.m..

The 3A State Championships will conclude Thursday evening when  a new State Champion will be crowned.
