The USU Extension Office – Emery County are excited to be hosting a Pumpkin Decorating Contest on Tuesday, October 24 at 3:30 pm. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Extension Assistant Professor, Rowe Zwahlen to get all the details.

“We would like you to bring your already decorated pumpkins at 3:30 pm on October 24. We’ll be doing it at the Rec Center in Castle Dale so it will be nice and warm no matter that the weather is. But if the kids want to bring in their decorated pumpkins, we’ll judge them, give prizes. We’re also going to have food, games, it should be a fun, relaxed afternoon,” said Zwahlen. This event will begin at 3:30 pm and run through till 5:30 pm its open to all children in the Emery County area.

Another event the USU Extension – Emery County is offering is an Estate Planning course on Thursday, October 26 at 6:30 pm. “They’re going to be talking about titled and un-titled property so things like the house and the car, what do you do with those. Then also the heirlooms, you know the things that may not be worth a lot other than sentimental value but can still cause some arguments if you don’t have a clear idea of who those are going to,” explained Zwahlen. There is a small fee of $10.00 associated with this course, that’s to cover the expense of the booklet and information that will be handed out to participants.

Any questions about the Pumpkin Decorating Contact or to register for the Estate Planning course please call the USU Extension office in Emery County at (435) 381-3535.
