The Carbon Dino football season came to an end on Friday night when they traveled to Grantsville to face the Cowboys in the opening round of the 3A State Championships. The Cowboys posted 25 points in the first quarter and the Dinos had no answers as they lost to Grantsville 39-0, ending their season.

The Dinos closed out the regular season with a 1-10 record overall going 0-5 in Region 12 play and ending the season in the No.12 RPI spot. The Dinos were a young team this year losing just a handful of seniors to graduation next season.

Carbon couldn’t slow down the Grantsville scoring attack in the first quarter as the Cowboys would put 25 points on the board, starting with an 8-yard run with 10:00 minutes left in the quarter by junior Jayden Atkinson. Atkinson would score again on a 28-yard run at the 3:28 mark.

Sophomore quarterback Paxton Falk got the start under center for the Dinos, but they could never get the offense rolling in the contest.

With the small number of seniors on this year’s team, the Dinos will be looking for underclassmen to step up next year and lead the Dinos forward.

It won’t be long before camps and workouts start up and we’ll be back talking about Friday night lights and Carbon Dino Football.
