The Carbon Lady Dino volleyball team got things underway at the 3A State Volleyball Championships on Wednesday morning in Orem on the campus of Utah Valley University. The No. 3 Dinos drew the No. 14 Juab Wasps, and the Dinos won in straight sets advancing to the quarterfinals.

These two teams had squared off twice this season since they belong to the same region, and Carbon was victorious in both of those meetings.

Carbon claimed victory in the first set taking it by the score of 25-18. Set two was played a little tighter with the Dinos earning the 25-21 win. The third set was a Dino victory 25-17, with Carbon getting the straight set win and advancing in the tournament.

Carbon will face the Union Cougars today at  1:30. Union is ranked No. 6 and earned their trip by beating North Sanpete.

The winner of the Carbon/Union match-up will go on to face the winner of the Morgan/Richfield contest tomorrow at 11:00 a.m..

A loss sends the Dinos into the consolation bracket where they will face the loser of the same contest.
