Price City each month sends a representative to Castle Country Radio to keep listeners posted or informed on various topics. This month brought in Price City Public Works Director, Miles Nelson who spoke on leaf clean-up, snow removal and 700 South Road project.

“This is the time of year they want to come off the trees and plug the gutters and fill the yards. So its important with leaves this time of year to make sure to remember not to rake them into the gutters and to make sure you keep the gutters clear because this time of year we can also have weather that brings us water and the leaves plug up the storm drains at this time if we let them accumulate in the gutter too much. What you can do for our system is we would love to help you with your leaves by having you bag your leaves and leave them on your parkway and call us and we would be happy to come pick them up from you,” stated Nelson. Residents can get assistance with pickup/disposal of their bagged-up leaves by calling the Public Works Department at (435) 637-5010.

Winter is right around the corner so it is essential that residents remember the city’s ordinances and snow removal procedures. “The important thing to remember is that if you have a car on the roads, you need to have those cars removed within 24 hours so we can make sure the roads are clear in your neighborhood. If you don’t get them cleared out then we have a challenge to clear the snow around them and sometimes you get trapped in with snow. So be sure to move your cars within the first 24 hours of a snowstorm. Also, removing snow be careful not to push snow into the road because it creates traffic hazards and you need to make sure you keep the snow on your property and out of the right of way,” said Nelson. Not only do residents have to worry about clearing their driveways but they also need to clear the snow from all of the sidewalks surrounding their homes so pedestrians can access those walkways during the winter months.

The city is happy to report that a new drainage system has been installed near 400 South. “Yea, this is one that we were glad to get done this year. We’ve had some challenges with flooding down around 400 South the last couple of years when we have some heavy rainstorms. That water has had a hard time getting away form the homes down there. This project was a wonderful project it takes the storm waters from 400 South all the way over to Mead’s Wash by way of the alleyway between 400 South and 500 South. By doing that alley way approach we were able to avoid tearing up a lot of the roads down there, we just had to go across a couple of the roads across 7th and 6th East, and the patching was simpler that way. That system now should draw away the water off of 400 South that was accumulating in front of those homes,” explained Nelson. City officials really appreciate the patience the community showed construction workers as they got this project completed.
