The annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:00 am at the Price City Peace Garden at 185 East Main Street. Commander Les Schultz stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details.
“The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month was decided upon as the armistice day at World War I and that is when they decided they were going to take and recognize the Veterans that had served. Now in 1954, President Eisenhower made it an official holiday,” said Commander Schultz. This holiday is to recognize all Veterans who have served their country and a brief history will be shared during the Veterans Day Ceremony held on Saturday.
“We are going to take and start the program at the correct time, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, which is November 11 at 11:00 am. In the Peace Garden, we will be formed up, with flags in front of us. I will give a speech there and recognize not only the Veterans that are standing behind me which are members of the American Legion Post but also Veterans that are part of the VFW,” said Commander Schultz. All Veterans, of all branches during all periods of conflict and in between, whether or not a member of a Veterans group is welcome to attend the ceremony.
“Come and talk to us, if nothing else, come and visit. That’s what its all about is the comradery between the Veterans. We are a special people in that we understand and we have feelings that are different than the rest of the people in the general public, and it gets really evident when you get around and you get a group of Veterans get to talking,” said Commander Schultz. All Castle Country residents’ young and old are encouraged to attend this special ceremony to show all local Veterans that they are appreciated for their willingness to serve, as well as, to celebrate their bravery and sacrifices.
